Born in 1958 in Castenedolo (BS), Maurizio Belpietro began his journalism career at a young age as a collaborator for Brescia Oggi in 1975. When he was 32 years old he became editor-in-chief of the Europeo, and at 34 he became sub-editor of L’Indipendente.
In 1995 he went to work at Il Giornale as co-editor. For a year he was the editor of Tempo in Rome. In 1997, after a brief period as sub-editor of the Monti group (Resto del Carlino, Nazione, Il Giorno), Belpietro was appointed operational director of Il Giornale and in 2001 he became editor of the same newspaper. In 2007 he became editor of Panorama.
